First Chris4Life LA Dream Date Auction and Benefit Event

Last Saturday marked the first LA Dream Date Auction and Benefit for Chris4Life Colon Cancer Foundation. The event was the first-ever media sponsorship for the Pacific Punch and we couldn’t have been happier to partner with such a terrific charity that is doing so much to help find a cure for colon cancer, raise awareness, and improve the lives of patients diagnosed with the deadly disease.

The night was not only fun, it was a tremendous success right out of the gate, raising $40K for the organization. The event was held at the luxurious SLS Hotel (one of the sponsors), with hors d’ouevres courtesy of celebrity chef José Andrés (of the hotel’s Bazaar restaurant), cocktails provided by Karma Tequila and Voli Vodka, Fergie‘s light spirit brand, and cupcakes by Sprinkles.

The silent auction included items such as one-of-a-kind jewelry, luxury food items, television swag, clothing, fine art, tickets to sporting events (LA Dodgers included a VIP visit to batting practice), VIP entrance to TAO Las Vegas, and live entertainment (tickets to Conan, Bill Maher, Ellen, and tickets to Celine Dion‘s Las Vegas show including a meet and greet).

Music was provided by DJ Gomes, and guests enjoyed playing “dress up” with boas, hats, and accessories, taking film strip photos in a photo booth. After a moving introduction from Michael Sapienza, Executive Director of Chris4Life, guests heard some of the most important facts and latest research from UCLA‘s Dr. J. Randolph Hecht, one of the most renowned doctors in the field of colon cancer research.

The highlight of the evening, however, was the live dream date auction, which included cast members from The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, and Bachelor Pad (Jillian Harris, Roberto Martinez, Natalie Getz, Dave Good, Erica Rose, and this season’s southern sweetheart, Kacie Boguski “Kacie B”), along with reality tv personality David Golshan (“Shahs of Sunset”, “Millionaire Matchmaker”) and local movers and shakers (Starz Lacrosse/Foundation founder) Scott Hochstadt and one of Hollywood’s hottest screenwriters, Karen McCullah (Legally Blond, The Ugly Truth).

A gentleman from DC and Ty Pennington (“Extreme Makeover: Home Edition”) got into a bidding war over Jillian Harris, and Ty ended up the winner at $3000 for a date with the perky, fun bachelorette. Sources say that Jillian agreed to also go on a date with the DC suitor when he said he’d match the $3K bid. So, Jillian ended up bringing in the most at $6K.

Kacie B’s date went for $3600 and newly-single hottie Roberto went for $1800. Each “dream date” had fun with the bidders, but no one upped the ante as much as Golshan, who not only did one-handed push-ups to get the bids higher, but actually DROPPED his pants to expose blue boxer briefs, and well, his assets. Natalie Getz was “won” by one of the founders of Drink Mr. Pink (who also donated non-alcoholic drinks for the night), and Hochstadt’s winner was coincidentally a woman he went to junior high school with and hadn’t seen in years.

Several of the Bachelor franchise cast members were in attendance and certainly a spirited bunch. When one gentleman asked if he could take them all out on a “group date,” they put themselves up for auction on the spot and went collectively for $5K.

MC’s for the evening (and the auctioneers) were the Bachelor’s Michelle Money, who has been an active advocate for Chris4Life and colon cancer awareness since losing her father to the disease last November, and Devin Alexander, author of the “Biggest Loser” cookbooks, media personality, and advocate for healthy living.

Out of town participants stayed at LA’s The Orlando Hotel, one of the event sponsors, and were seen continuing the dating debauchery after the event Saturday and continuing on Sunday down the street from the hotel at 3rd Street’s sports bar Goal after their “dream dates” with the winners. Locals have or will coordinate mutually convenient times to go on their date.

Two of the ladies tweeted photos from their “dream dates” on Sunday:

@kacielynnb: “Such a great date for a great cause! @chris4cure ps. I got the rose

@nataliegetz: “On my date from #Chris4life charity auction with the man who “won” me lol- Founder of @drinkmrpink

We can’t thank enough everyone who participated, attended and donated for helping to make Saturday night a success!
