Geek 2 Chic: LA “Geeks” Invade The Fashion Runway For Great Cause

From the fire engine red Marc Jacobs pants, to the signature “tech cred” Hugo Boss hoodie, Geek 2 Chic LA was an unforgettable evening of fashion, fun and charity.

Over 150 guests turned out for the Microsoft-sponsored event, which took place at Bloomingdale’s in Santa Monica, on the same evening President Obama rubbed elbows with approximately the same number of guests at George Clooney’s fundraiser dinner in Culver City.

The show was kicked off by Malissa Feruzzi Shriver, Chair of the California Arts Council (and wife to former Santa Monica mayor and current city councilman Bobby Shriver) and emceed by the audaciously bodacious host of What’s Trending, Shira Lazar.

Twenty-five entrepreneurs from the digital, media, and social-networking landscape of “Silicon Beach” stole away from their everyday geekery to strut the down the runway in the latest from Marc Jacobs, Theory, and John Varvatos, to name a few. The full model line-up included:

All ticket proceeds, as well as 10 percent of the store’s sales for the evening, benefited NFTE, the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship,  a program that works with educators in low-income communities to inspire high-school students to explore entrepreneurship as a viable career path.
