In honor of the 12th annual Feast of San Gennaro that begins this Friday, Chef Brandon Boudet of Little Dom’s and Dominick’s is doing something a little different this year to honor his heritage. Each year, Boudet has taken the celebration to his beloved Italian restaurants by featuring a special menu available the weekend of the Feast.
This weekend, from September 26th through the 29th, Boudet will be rollin’ out his San Gennaro Arancini Menu, featuring one of Sicily’s most beloved street foods. Boudet will be balling up, breading, and deep frying risotto stuffed with unique ingredients (think: savory & sweet), paying homage to his Italian-American roots. A few arancini from his exclusive menu include:
· Sausage & Peppers with Sweet Italian Sausage, Tomato & Smoked Scarmorza Cheese
· Chicken Parmesan with Roasted Chicken Thighs, Tomato, Crushed Red Pepper & Fresh Mozzarella
· Shrimp Scampi with Garlic, White Wine, Butter & Fresh Herbs
· The Hipster (vegetarian & gluten-free) with Carnaroli Rice, Market Summer Vegetables & Housemade Almond Milk Ricotta
· Nutella filled with Vanilla Bean & Mascarpone with Raspberry Dipping Sauce
Now THAT’s some amazeballs you don’t want to miss out on. $4 per ball, available during dinner at both restaurants from Sept 26-29.
Jimmy Kimmel’s Fave Fest
In September of 2002, some of Los Angeles’ most prominent Italian American citizens got together and produced the first annual Feast of San Gennaro in Los Angeles. Just like the 80+ year old New York City tradition, the Galbani Cheese Italian Feast of San Gennaro Los Angeles celebrates Italian culture, food and entertainment, and features live music, street performers and lots more. In addition to sampling wine from local wineries and bites from Los Angeles’ best Italian restaurants, guests are invited to learn recipes from the cooking stage and play bocce ball and bingo with some of Hollywood’s Italian American celebrities, like Jimmy Kimmel and Adam Carrola and more. Head HERE for this year’s schedule of events, from Sept 27th-29th.
