When screenwriter Karen McCullah speaks, people listen. Or, more accurately, eavesdrop.
She is the co-writing mastermind behind movies like “Legally Blonde”, “10 Things I Hate About You” and “The Ugly Truth.” When I had lunch with her recently in West Hollywood, the garrulous party of five sitting next to us would turn deafly silent every time she spoke.
From dating in L.A. after being married for most of her adult life, to working with celebrities like Reese Witherspoon, Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler, her life has all the intrigue, glamour, and sometimes tribulation, of a Hollywood success story.
But she’s worked hard for her success. She’s sold and been hired to re-write over thirty screenplays; seven have been made into movies, the eighth will be shot June. Her novel, The Bachelorette Party, will soon be onscreen.
Offscreen, Karen is a vivacious, tell-it-like-it-is blonde who has graciously agreed to take part in a L.A. Celebrity Dream Date Auction on Saturday, March 31, at the SLS Hotel in Beverly Hills, benefitting the Chris4Life Colon Cancer Foundation. She along with other L.A. celebs, including many from The Bachelor franchise, will be putting themselves up on the auction block for a great cause.
